What are the negative consequences of parental overprotection and limiting exercise for infants and toddlers?

The mother’s pregnancy was healthy, the birth was full term, the delivery was normal, there was no disease during the neonatal period, and the child’s height and weight were normal. Therefore there would be no possibility of brain damage. After a detailed physical examination, there was no sign of any cerebral palsy. Then I asked him: How did you surrogate the child? He said that there were 5 people in our family, including dad, mom, grandpa and grandma, and a nanny, and we were afraid that he would fall, bump or touch, so we held him a lot and let him move very little. Through a comprehensive analysis, I believe that this child’s motor development is backward, caused by overprotection and not giving the child the opportunity to move freely. So I told him that in the future, you should let him practice walking and running more and move more under proper protection, and his motor ability will be normalized. Another child, who could not roll over, sit, or reach for objects at 6 months, was suspected to be a child with cerebral palsy. This child was also born normally without any high-risk factors, and physical examination did not reveal how abnormal muscle tone or reflexes. When asked how his mother raised him, she said that she kept the child lying flat with his hands covered inside the quilt until 6 months of age. Through motor training, the child was able to roll over and sit after 1 month. Some of the developmental delays in this child were likely caused by a lack of parenting knowledge. There are many examples of this, some parents are afraid to let their children sit up by 4-5 months for fear of damaging the back, 8-9 months children are not allowed to stand for fear of causing the bending of the legs, all of these situations are due to the lack of knowledge of infant motor development, which hinders the normal motor development of the child. Delayed motor development will have a negative impact on the child’s cognitive development and to some extent will affect the normal development of the child’s potential.
