Mr. Zhang Xichun’s “Zhong zhong gan xi lu” (Records of the Guiding Principles of Medical Science) contains a formula for the treatment of cold knee pain. It is composed of 5 qian of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 5 qian of Angelica sinensis, 5 qian of Boswellia serrata, and 5 qian of myrrh, and has the effect of activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis (promoting blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis in the body), as well as clearing the meridians and relieving pain (clearing the meridians and relieving pain).
Salvia divinorum and Angelica sinensis can promote blood circulation, eliminate blood stasis in the body, dredge the meridians and relieve pain, while myrrh and frankincense can enhance the effects of activating blood circulation, subduing swelling and relieving pain (eliminating swelling and pain).
It can be used to treat stagnation of blood and qi, pain in the heart and abdomen, pain in the legs, bruises and swelling, internal and external sores, as well as obstruction in the abdomen (tangible or intangible lumps in the abdomen, with a feeling of swelling and pain).
As the effect of activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis is strong, it is not suitable for use by pregnant women, those who are pregnant and those who do not have blood stasis. Individuals should not use the medicine blindly, and it is recommended to use the medicine correctly under the guidance of a regular Chinese medicine practitioner.
