There are several types of lumbar disc surgery. First of all, if the lumbar disc surgery is minimally invasive, we can generally go down to the ground in 3-5 days or a week or so after the surgery; if we do incision, disc removal and posterior bone graft fusion, the trauma is greater than minimally invasive surgery, so we may need to pay attention to bed rest for 1-2 weeks after the surgery, wear a lumbar back brace for protection, and then gradually go down to the ground, and at the same time, we should explain the patient to strengthen the exercise of the lumbar back muscles. In lumbar intervertebral disc surgery, we have to remove the ligaments between the spinous processes behind the lumbar back muscles, including bone trauma and intervertebral discs, so the choice of surgery is very important. If we do an open repositioning, open for disc removal or disc replacement surgery, we may have to go down later after surgery, maybe 1-2 weeks, and we have to wear low back protection.
