Can you exercise with gastroenteritis?

When the symptoms of gastroenteritis are not serious, you can exercise, but avoid strenuous exercise.
Gastroenteritis is mostly due to bacterial, viral or parasitic infection, which triggers inflammation of the gastric mucosa and intestinal mucosa. Common symptoms are abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite after eating, and in severe cases, there may be fever, weakness of limbs and dehydration.
If the symptoms are not very serious and the physical strength is still good, moderate exercise, such as slow walking, can be carried out to improve appetite, promote digestion and speed up the recovery of body functions. Strenuous exercise should be avoided so as not to aggravate the spasm of the gastrointestinal tract; if the symptoms are more serious, it is recommended to rest first, and then do moderate exercise after some recovery of physical strength.
If gastroenteritis is diagnosed, early and standardized treatment is recommended to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
