The medicinal properties of Qianqian Cao are sweet, salty and slightly cold. It belongs to liver, gallbladder, kidney and bladder meridians. It can be combined with Yin Chen, Yu Jin and Da Huang to enhance the efficacy of clearing the liver and gallbladder to expel yellow and stones; clearing heat and diuretic to clear gonorrhea and expel stones. Contraindicated in pregnant women and those with blood loss due to Yin deficiency.
It can be used together with wild chrysanthemum, dandelion and wanqing to treat jaundice due to dampness-heat, liver and gallstones, astringent pain in urination, discharging gravel, clearing heat and detoxifying toxins to reduce swelling and heal sores, and treating redness, swelling, heat and pain, and snakebites and other diseases. It is forbidden to use for people with loose bowels (thin and unformed feces), and pregnant women should take it with caution.
Qianqian Cao is slightly cold, so it should be taken with caution for people with cold spleen and stomach. When used externally, an appropriate amount can be taken and crushed for external application to treat ulcerated wounds or snake bites.
