What is Ashworth grading?

The Ashworth scale has a total of 0 to 4 and is intended to be used to rate the dystonia grading scale.
Grade 1.0: Normal muscle tone.
Grade 2.1: Slight increase in muscle tone over normal, with a small resistance to knee flexion.
Grade 3.1+: There is a slight increase in muscle tone and minimal resistance occurs at 50% of joint movement.
Grade 4.2: The affected area can be moved, but the increase in muscle tone is felt over most of the range of joint motion.
Grade 5.3: Difficulty with passive movement and marked increase in muscle tone.
Grade 6.4: Complete immobilization and rigidity.
Myotonia refers to the tension of the muscle at rest, which is manifested as a small but continuous involuntary contraction of the muscle, and is clinically manifested as the resistance of the muscle when it is passively stretched and stretched by holding hands. It is the basis for maintaining posture and normal life.
Ashworth classification can help the patient to clarify the dystonia classification and take different treatment measures according to the different classifications.
