The brain shell repair procedure is the surgical procedure of cranial repair plasty, which mainly includes incision of the scalp, exposure of the cranial defect area as well as the normal cranial bone at its margins, confirmation of the angle of placement of the cranial repair material, fixation of the cranial repair material, and finally suture closure of the scalp.
1. Cranial repair and plasty requires the successful establishment of an artificial airway under general anesthesia, incision of the scalp, including the subcutaneous muscles, proper hemostasis, and turning of the scalp flap or dermatomuscular flap.
2. Appropriately expose the cranial defect area and reveal the normal cranial bone at the edge of the defect area, in order to prevent the cranial bone repair material.
3. Confirm the angle of placement of the cranial repair material to ensure that all edges fit the edges of the skull defect.
4. Secure the cranial repair material with various materials such as titanium nails.
5. Finally, after the hemostasis is confirmed again, the scalp is sutured and a subcutaneous drain is usually placed.
