Gout is a group of clinical syndrome caused by disorder of purine metabolism and elevated blood uric acid. Although exogenous purines are not the main cause of gout, and a low purine diet can only reduce blood uric acid value by 1-2mg/dl after 7 days, a high purine diet can often increase blood uric acid temporarily and induce an acute attack of arthritis. Therefore, it is still necessary to control foods high in purines to reduce the number of acute episodes of arthritis.
1. There are many high purine foods, which are broadly classified into the following categories.
(1) Foods containing very large amounts of purines: such as lamb heart, pancreas, gravy concentrate, dried meat, herring, sardines and yeast, etc.
(2) Foods containing large amounts of purines: anchovies, cod, mahi-mahi, mackerel, salmon, scallop meat, salted pork, goose, partridge, pigeon, beef, liver, kidney and pheasant, etc.
(3) Food containing medium amount of purine: such as chicken, duck, lamb chops, pork, rabbit, brain, ham, tongue, offal (stomach and intestine) oyster meat, shrimp, eel, halibut, sour apple, kidney-shaped beans, lentils, mushroom or mushroom products, soy products, green beans, peas, spinach and peanuts, etc.

(3) Eggs, butter, various kinds of fat (medium edible), caviar, sugar and nectar.
(4) Dairy products including all kinds of fresh milk, condensed milk, cheese, yogurt, cream of wheat and products containing cream (no meat).

3. Foods with low purine content (about 75mg of purine per 100g of food) that can be consumed in limited quantities include.
Asparagus, cauliflower, string beans, green beans, peas, beans, spinach, mushrooms, muesli, mackerel herring, salmon, perch, tuna, white fish, lobster, crab, oyster, chicken, ham, lamb, beef soup, wheat bran, bread, etc.

If you need to eat meat, poultry, fish and other foods with high purine content, you can consume a small amount of lean meat, poultry, etc., after boiling and discarding the soup, which can remove part of the purine from the fish.
Other precautions include: strictly avoid alcohol, eat more alkaline foods such as rape, cabbage, carrots and melons, pay attention to rest until symptoms are significantly relieved, and avoid the use of drugs that inhibit uric acid excretion such as tachyphylaxis, aspirin, vitamin B1 and B12, etc. Avoid acute gouty arthritis attacks, such as overwork, stress, cold, tight shoes, excessive walking and joint injuries; actively treat gout-related diseases such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes, and prevent overweight.
