New technology in dentistry applied to clinical practice

  1, oral endoscopy: oral endoscopy is a special construction of the camera lens into the mouth, in the self-provided light source under the irradiation of the details of the teeth and soft tissue, in the computer screen to display a clear magnified image. With the assistance of the endoscopic system, the dentist is better able to detect lesions occurring on soft and hard tissues. It also allows patients to visualize and fully understand the various problems that exist in their oral species and participate in the decision making of treatment plans. These images can also be stored in the patient’s database and together with text, graphics, radiographic images and other information form a new generation of electronic medical records. In recent years, due to its technical progress in pixel, clarity and convenience of operation, oral endoscope has been rapidly popularized and applied in dentistry clinic.  2.Minimally invasive decay of Saekiyo: Carisolv Saekiyo is a revolutionary breakthrough in the field of dentistry. It is a new technology of removing caries by chemical-mechanical method instead of traditional lancet, which can quietly, effectively, safely and thoroughly remove all dentin caries in carious teeth. Due to the characteristics of basically no pain and no discomfort; no damage to healthy tooth tissue, prolonging the life of the tooth; reducing the use of dental drill and anesthesia, reducing the patient’s fear; better connection between filling material and dentin, etc., Saekiyo has been recommended by China Primary Health Care Foundation as the designated product for national caries prevention and census activities.  3.Laughing gas sedation: Sake sedation refers to the slight suppression of the level of consciousness, while the patient is able to maintain continuous autonomous breathing and the ability to respond accordingly to physical stimuli and verbal instructions. Throughout the process, the patient remains awake, does not lose consciousness, has active protective reflexes, and is able to cooperate with treatment. Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a colorless and sweet gas, chemical formula N2O, laughing gas oxygen inhalation conscious sedation is a mixture of laughing gas and oxygen (where the concentration of laughing gas is not higher than 70% and the concentration of oxygen is not lower than 30%), which is used in dental examination and treatment, and has been widely used abroad, and is one of the safest dental anesthesia methods. It is the safest form of dental anesthesia. It can produce analgesic effect and relieve anxiety quickly, and the patient can be sedated, stay awake, relaxed and comfortable during the whole treatment, respond to verbal instructions, open mouth and cooperate with the treatment, with rapid onset of action and recovery. It is safe, avoids psychological trauma of medical origin, reduces doctor’s stress, saves time and improves efficiency. It is particularly suitable for the treatment of pediatric dental patients.  Laughing gas is used for sedation in dentistry with the following characteristics. (1) Analgesic effect: inhalation of laughing gas can increase the pain threshold, reduce pain but not block pain; according to the treatment needs of the joint application of local anesthetic drugs. ②Anxiolytic effect: reduce or eliminate the level of anxiety in patients with dental anxiety, prevent dental anxiety in patients without dental anxiety, make patients relaxed, comfortable and cooperative, especially for pediatric dental patients and have a positive and benign promotion effect on their future dental treatment. ③Amnesia effect: Patients cannot fully and exactly recall the situation after completing the treatment and have a wrong judgment about the length of time, often do not realize the time consumption and think that they have cooperated in a very short time to complete a treatment operation which is actually very long. ④Simple operation, easy to control: rapid onset and recovery, generally 30 s after application can produce the effect, 5 min can reach the best effect, stop using laughing gas inhalation of pure oxygen 5 min after complete recovery can be achieved.  Laughing gas oxygen inhalation conscious sedation technology is not widely used in dentistry in China, dental patients or parents of children do not know much about it, and there are ideological doubts. Do a good job of publicity of this technology, so that patients or parents fully understand the cooperation, to improve the treatment effect of dentistry has an important role. This technique provides safe and effective dental treatment for children, eliminates anxiety and pain, and is particularly beneficial to the treatment of children who are unable to cooperate with treatment for various reasons. At present, due to the high cost of general anesthesia technology and the influence of parents’ traditional consciousness, only a few dental hospitals of a certain size have carried out general anesthesia treatment technology for pediatric dentistry. In fact, children’s dental general anesthesia treatment technology is a safe and humane way, can effectively complete the treatment of children’s oral cavity teeth, the whole process without painful experience, the psychological impact on the child did not cause adverse.  5.Dazzling composite resin filling: Twinky Star is a kind of multi-color composite filling material with dazzling effect specially designed for baby teeth. There are 7 kinds of dazzling shades to choose from. This material combines fluoride releasing glass ions with a stable and long-lasting resin, making the entire filling easy and fast. It also increases the patient’s interest in filling the teeth reducing the fear and anxiety of filling and is especially suitable for pediatric dental treatment for filling the baby teeth. This technique is currently only reported for application abroad.  Twinky Star is a composite based filling material with a color effect. The luminous effect of the material comes from insoluble minerals and does not contain any metallic components. The color source of the material complies with the regulations and requirements for food and daily use cosmetics. The materials are non-toxic. The content of pigments is absolutely minute and they are insoluble. After curing, the colors are firmly bound to the synthetic resin matrix and locked in place. It is safe to use.  6, computer-aided design and production of denture: computer-aided design and auxiliary production of denture (CAD/CAM) is one of the biggest advances in the field of prosthodontics in this century, fundamentally changed the traditional method of denture production, the basic method for the preparation of the abutment teeth for three-dimensional morphometry, and then computerized image and design, and simulation of the form of the restoration, and then through data simulation processing, the preparation of the denture can be completed. The preparation of the denture can then be completed. The main features of CAD/CAM for restorative dentistry include the accuracy of the finished restoration and its fit to the abutment teeth. Save a lot of time, such as the completion of an inlay or crown at least two visits, but only once with CAD / CAM can be completed, and from the preparation to complete the production of only 40 ~ 50min. fundamentally changed the way the restoration, eliminating the whole process of casting, saving materials.
