What’s wrong with acid reflux?

Patients with acid reflux need to ask about the number and frequency of episodes. If it occurs recently and occasionally, it is likely to be a functional gastric disorder, caused by overeating. This symptom will usually resolve on its own when controlling the amount of food eaten and eating less greasy, fried and other hard-to-digest foods, and not drinking alcohol. If the patient still has acid reflux after controlling the above mentioned diet, the possibility of GERD or reflux esophagitis should be ruled out. An electronic gastroscopy or barium meal of the upper gastrointestinal tract is needed to clarify, and drugs such as domperidone plus lansoprazole or rabeprazole can be considered for treatment after the diagnosis is confirmed. If the above symptoms are particularly pronounced when heartburn symptoms often occur, patients are advised to sleep with the foot of the bed on the head side slightly elevated to reduce reflux.
