Banlangen is generally used to treat wind-heat colds and flu, which are characterized by heavy fever, sore throat and yellowish nasal discharge. If you have cold symptoms, please consult a physician for diagnosis and treatment.
Panax quinquefolium, the dried root of woad, family Cruciferae, is bitter in taste and cold in nature, and belongs to the heart and stomach meridians, with the effects of clearing heat and removing toxins, cooling the blood, and inducing diaphoresis.
It is mainly used for treating wind-heat colds, fever, headache and sore throat caused by the first onset of warm diseases, or warm toxins resulting in skin blotches, swelling and pain in the cheeks (e.g., mumps in Western medicine), rotting throat and cholera (e.g., scarlet fever in Western medicine), and red, swollen and hot pain in the skin.
Note that it is contraindicated for those who are weak and do not have solid fire and heat toxins in the body, and should be used with caution for those who have a cold spleen and stomach.
The drug should be used under the guidance of a physician.
