What does the SE value of vision mean?

The SE value in the vision test result refers to the equivalent spherical lens power.
The standard visual acuity examination result includes both naked eye visual acuity examination and corrected visual acuity examination, in which the naked eye visual acuity examination refers to the best visual acuity of both eyes tested separately without correction by glasses. The corrected vision test refers to the best visual acuity obtained after the optometric examination and after the refractive defects of the patient are compensated by glasses.
The SE value in the corrected visual acuity examination result refers to the conversion of the patient’s astigmatism into myopia to obtain the number of spherical lenses that should be worn when using spherical lenses alone. The significance of the SE value lies in the fact that when the patient wears ordinary contact lenses to correct refractive errors, the contact lens lenses do not contain any astigmatism, and can be fitted with spherical lenses in accordance with their spherical lens equivalence.
It is recommended that patients with abnormal visual acuity exams seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow their doctor’s instructions.
