About Painless Gastroscopy

Introducing a comfortable and safe gastrointestinal examination method Painless gastroscopy When it comes to gastroscopy, people will first think of the pain and uncomfortable when the mirror enters the body, but did you know? But did you know that gastroscopy is now done without pain, which is called painless gastroscopy? Painless gastroscopy uses a safe and efficient sedative hypnotic drug to make patients enter a light sleep within 5-10 seconds, and then perform gastroscopy after the whole body is relaxed, hardly feeling any discomfort, and after the completion of the examination, they will soon be awake and can leave the hospital and go home after a moment of rest. What are the advantages of painless gastroscopy compared with traditional gastroscopy? Painless gastroscopy has been used overseas since the late 1990s and is now widely used in major hospitals in China. First of all, painless gastroscopy can be well coordinated with the examination because the patient is asleep, which shortens the examination time of the doctor and makes it easier to reach sensitive areas, which is beneficial to the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Painless gastroscopy is especially suitable for people with extreme nervousness and fear, people who are particularly sensitive to painful stimuli, patients with high blood pressure, heart disease, elderly people and pediatric patients who cannot cooperate with the examination on their own. Director Si Yi said that there was a case of an elderly patient with intestinal cancer whose incidence was in the upper part of ileum, and the patient would feel unbearable pain and could not cooperate or even refused to be examined by normal gastroscopy. Is painless gastroscopy safe? Unlike other hospitals, we have different personalized analgesic protocols for patients who need to be examined. Now we have six combinations of medication protocols available for examiners, so that the safety of medication is better guaranteed. In the past, it was relatively contraindicated for the elderly to have painful examinations, but with appropriate analgesia, age is no longer an obstacle to the examination. So you don’t have to worry about the safety of painless gastroscopy technology. Are there any contraindications to painless gastroscopy? Not everyone is suitable for painless gastroscopy. First of all, patients with severe cold and cough, severe respiratory disorders such as obstructive lung disease, pneumothorax, and pulmonary atelectasis that have not been healed recently are prohibited from having painless gastroscopy, and those with severe liver and kidney failure and disorders are prohibited from having painless gastroscopy. Are there any precautions for painless gastroscopy? First of all, patients should strictly observe the rules of the endoscopy department regarding fasting before gastrointestinal examination, eat a small amount of food 2 hours after painless gastrointestinal examination, refrain from driving and fine work for 24 hours as far as possible, and it is better to have a companion when coming to the hospital for examination. Secondly, before choosing painless gastroscopy, patients should inform the endoscopist and pain physician of their physical condition, have ECG and chest X-ray done in advance, and work out a suitable analgesic plan for you.
