Can the ureter be restenosed after balloon dilatation?

Restenosis is possible after ureteral balloon dilatation, depending on the characteristics of the ureteral stricture. The prognosis of ureteral stenosis treatment is determined by the extent of the lesion, the degree of stenosis and the time of stenosis formation. Ureteral stenosis patients need to go to a regular hospital and seek professional medical help. Specifically, the scope of the lesion includes limited or long stenosis, single stenosis or multiple stenosis; the degree of stenosis includes mild stenosis and severe stenosis (e.g., essentially occlusive stenosis); and the time of stenosis formation includes short-term stenosis and long-term stenosis. In general, patients with single confined stenosis, mild stenosis and stenosis duration less than 3 months or less have a higher success rate of treatment.
