How to differentiate the severity of sepsis in pediatrics

The severity of pediatric sepsis is differentiated according to symptoms, signs, and laboratory tests. 1. Mild sepsis: there is a mild increase in body temperature and a mild increase in inflammatory indicators such as white blood cells and C-reactive protein. 2. Severe sepsis: most of the patient’s body temperature is above 38℃, and even there will be a persistent non-decrease, the heart rate is faster, more than 90 times/min, the respiration is faster, more than 30 times/min, the blood pressure will drop, the inflammatory indicators will be very high, the white blood cell index, the sedimentation rate, the procalcitoninogen, and it will even lead to multi-organ involvement, the manifestation of the corresponding organ damage. Once the baby is found to be suffering from septicemia, promptly go to the hospital for active treatment.
