HPV52 positivity is a high-risk viral infection that indicates the presence of precancerous lesions. Therefore, if you are positive for HPV52, you need to go to the hospital for a colposcopic biopsy to rule out precancerous lesions in the cervix. When the results are benign with low risk, vaginal insertion of antiviral drugs or interferon can be performed to help turn HPV52 negative, as persistent viral infection can cause high grade intraepithelial neoplasia. If direct biopsy results suggest high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia, a cervical conization is required to determine if the margins are negative or positive for specific next steps in treatment. If menopause will already be present, it is recommended that hysterectomy may also be considered if it is high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia because of viral infections that can induce into cervical cancer.
