Generally, a disposable oxygen probe is an instrument that is used to test a patient’s blood oxygen level. Usually disposable oximetry probes can be used in conjunction with a monitor, where the finger cuff is fixed to the end of the patient’s finger, and then the patient’s oxygen saturation, pulse rate and pulse wave can be obtained through the monitor. Pulse oximetry consists of a peripheral probe and a microprocessor. Generally, the microprocessor can display the waveforms and calculate the blood oxygen saturation percentage, average pulse rate, and so on. An alarm is usually raised when a low blood oxygen level or fast heart rate is detected in a patient. Pulse oximetry measures and displays pulse rate and hemoglobin saturation in arterial blood. Patients who require blood oxygen testing for their medical condition can use a disposable oxygen probe under the supervision of a medical professional to determine their condition.
