What should be the normal visual acuity of a preschooler?

Nowadays, many of our parents are very concerned about their children’s vision and are afraid that their children are nearsighted, farsighted, amblyopic, etc. In addition, some of our doctors are not up to date with their knowledge and are eager to give their children glasses and amblyopia training in order to meet the needs of parents. The consequence of this is that some children may develop myopia before school age. What should be the normal visual acuity of our children? Is it possible for a child to have 1.0 vision at birth? The newborn has a relatively short eye axis, usually 300 degrees (3.0D) or more of hyperopia, and the best vision is 0.1 or less. as they grow older, the eye axis gradually develops closer to its normal value, the refractive power of hyperopia gradually decreases, and the visual acuity gradually improves. This is the orthokeratology of the refractive state of the eye. Therefore, the normal visual acuity of our children varies at different ages: the lower limit of normal visual acuity reference value for children aged 3-4 years is 0.5; 4-5 years: 0.6; 6-7 years: 0.7; 7 years and above: 0.8.
