No new benzodiazepines have been identified in recent years. Benzodiazepines are short-acting, medium-acting and long-acting. Benzodiazepines belong to the class of psychotropic drugs, which have the effects of sleep aid, sedation, anti-anxiety, anticonvulsant, tension relief and muscle relaxation. Benzodiazepines include many kinds of drugs, of which the short-acting ones have an action time of 3 to 8 hours. The main ones are triazolam and oxazepam. Medium-acting benzodiazepines have an action time of 10-20 hours. The main ones are alprazolam, eszopiclone, lorazepam, temazepam and clonazepam. The main duration of action of long-acting benzodiazepines can be 24 to 72 hours. They mainly include diazepam, clonazepam, nitrazepam and flunitrazepam. Benzodiazepines have the characteristics of low toxicity and precise efficacy, but long-term use can have dependence and addiction, so it is necessary to choose the medication under the guidance of the doctor, and should not be taken without authorization. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and women during pregnancy should be prohibited from taking these drugs.
