How to clean dentures

Dentures are also known as prostheses, and there are movable and fixed prostheses. In the case of fixed dentures, which are commonly known as single-crown restorations or bridge-crown restorations, the cleaning method is the same as for normal teeth, with daily brushing in the morning and evening. In the case of removable dentures, which are commonly worn by the elderly, they need to be taken off and cleaned every day. If the patient often eats food with more fiber or residue, remove the denture after each meal and soak it in water or use a toothbrush with mild toothpaste to brush the exposed part of the plastic and avoid brushing the mucous membrane of the mouth. After rinsing with water in the morning, you can continue to wear. While cleaning the removable denture, you should also clean the real teeth and the inside of the mouth, remove the removable denture first, and then clean the real teeth with dental floss and toothbrush. You can choose to massage your mouth and gums gently. After cleaning your hands, place your thumb and index finger on both sides of the gums, apply light pressure and then relax to help local blood circulation. If the patient is unable to clean the removable denture by himself, the family can help clean it, pay attention to oral care, choose a toothbrush with soft bristles, pay attention to gentle movements, and keep the removable denture properly.
