What are the risks of brain stenting?

Brain stent surgery is usually safe when standardized treatment, but there are still some risks, mainly including cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, sudden death, contrast allergy, kidney injury and so on.
1. Cerebral hemorrhage: Brain stent surgery may cause cerebral blood vessel entrapment, rupture and cerebral hemorrhage, which may cause neurological deficits, and patients may show headache, dizziness, slurred speech, distorted eyes and mouth, hemiparesis, hemiplegia, hemiplegia, etc.
2. Cerebral infarction: Brain stent surgery may cause cerebral vasospasm, acute thrombosis, atherosclerotic plaque detachment, which may cause insufficient cerebral blood supply, and in severe cases, it may cause cerebral infarction. After stenting, oral anti-platelet aggregation drugs should be taken as prescribed by the doctor, otherwise it may lead to stent thrombosis.
3. Sudden death: In the summary of stenting procedure, patients who are too sensitive to carotid sinus may experience slow heartbeat, drop in blood pressure, or even shock and death.
4. Allergy to contrast agent, kidney injury: stenting procedure requires simultaneous imaging, which may result in patients being allergic to the contrast agent. In addition, the contrast agent may also cause kidney damage in some patients.
Brain stent surgery should follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
