  It is normal for most women to have their periods within a month or so after an abortion, either a few days early or a few days late. Generally, you can resume your menstrual flow in about 1 month after the abortion. Abortion is an invasive procedure that damages the uterine lining, and the time to menstruation may vary if the patient takes different time to repair. It is normal for patients to have their periods a few days early or a few days late, and most women can gradually return to normal after 2-3 cycles. In addition, intercourse is not recommended before menstruation is restored because intercourse before the endometrium is fully repaired can easily cause endometrial damage and bleeding, and even gynecological infections such as endometritis.  After abortion, it is recommended to eat more warm and iron-rich foods to increase nutrition and promote early recovery.
