How often should people with diabetes come to the hospital to review which tests?

Even patients with no complications and good glycemic control should see the clinic at least once every 2-3 months to see if they need to adjust their glucose-lowering medication or insulin dose. Patients with uncomplicated diabetes should have their glycosylated hemoglobin checked every 3 months, and their fundus and 24-hour urine albumin quantification checked at least once a year. Patients with diabetic retinopathy have their fundus rechecked every 3 months to 6 months! Patients with diabetic nephropathy should have their 24-hour urine albumin quantified at least once every 3 months.
