Why does progesterone drop

The causes of progesterone drop may include luteal insufficiency, thyroid and adrenal gland dysfunction and other causes such as insufficient mother’s own hormones.
1. Luteal insufficiency: Progesterone is secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovary. If the corpus luteum is underdeveloped, its secretion function will be affected, which will lead to insufficient progesterone secretion.
2. Thyroid and adrenal gland dysfunction: when the thyroid and adrenal glands of pregnant women function abnormally, the body’s hormone metabolism will be disturbed, and the ovarian function may be affected, resulting in abnormal ovulation, and the content of progesterone will be reduced accordingly.
3. Mother’s own hormone is not enough: early embryonic development, the need for estrogen, progesterone and chorionic gonadotropin levels of these three important hormones, if the above hormones of the mother’s own secretion is not enough, will lead to a decline in progesterone.
Progesterone decline may also be caused by other diseases, it is recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner, after completing the relevant examinations to clarify the cause of the disease, under the guidance of the doctor to give symptomatic treatment.
