How can I prevent infection after my cup-shaped ear surgery?

Cup-shaped ear, also known as curly ear or droopy ear, is a common congenital ear deformity, mostly occurring bilaterally. It is characterized by a constriction of the ear wheel margin, curling and adhesion of the ear wheel and auricular cartilage, narrowing of the ear boat and triangular fossa, and in severe cases, shrinking and drooping of the entire upper part of the ear, and loss of the ear boat and the opposite ear wheel. In severe cases, the entire upper part of the ear is shrunken, drooping, and the shape of the ear canal and the opposite ear wheel is lost. Post-operative prevention: 1. After the ear surgery, the patient should prevent the sewage from entering the ear when shampooing, showering and swimming to avoid secondary infection in the surgical cavity. 2. Pay attention to keeping warm and try not to catch a cold to avoid otitis media. 3. If complications of facial palsy eyes cannot be closed tightly in order to protect the cornea at night should eye ointment and add eye shields. [1] 4. If there is an increase in mucopurulent secretions in the surgical cavity, it is suggested that infection exists in the surgical cavity and should be sent to the hospital or home caregivers should first use sterile dry swabs to remove the secretions. The cup-shaped ear deformity has a greater impact on the appearance and can affect the wearing of glasses, therefore, the cup-shaped ear correction surgery is needed. In cases where the earring is sagging and covers the external ear canal, early surgery is recommended to avoid affecting hearing. The surgery can be done after 6 years of age and can be done bilaterally in one operation. Those with severe maxillofacial deformities should be considered as a whole and a comprehensive treatment plan should be developed.
