Confessions of a liver cyst

Dear friends, have you ever had such an experience? When you need to do liver ultrasound (B-ultrasound) for some diseases, or do a normal physical examination of your liver, the ultrasonographer on your report card describes that you can see a certain diameter size of very low echogenic area or non-echogenic area in the parenchyma of your liver, and if you check the image on the report card, you will see a round, very clear black area inside the contour of your liver. You must be scared! Could it be that you have liver cancer? I’m the black guy, I’m the liver cyst that doctors talk about, you medical doctors think I’m the bile ducts left over from your human embryonic period, and after birth, day by day, we slowly fill up our interior with clear, watery fluid, we’re benign disease, but just exist inside your liver, if we’re not big enough to compress your other organs, if we don’t bleed internally, and If we are not big enough to press on your other organs, if we do not bleed internally, if we do not cause pain, or if we are not internally infected causing your fever, you will not even know that I exist. And, in general I am not a danger to your human health! But there is one guy in our family that is not so friendly, and that is the multiple cysts that grow not only in your liver, but also in your human kidneys, pancreas or spleen, and this condition is called polycystic disease! Most of this disease has a family history and belongs to a genetic disease, as age increases, the liver and kidneys inside the large and small cysts are growing, and even fusion, and eventually destroy your human liver and kidneys, resulting in liver insufficiency or kidney failure, and even the need for liver and kidney transplantation! Do you think it’s scary! In fact, we liver cysts is just a pocket of water in your liver, do not make a fuss, if you are told that you have liver cysts, the best option is to go to the gastroenterology department, where the doctor will help you determine whether you have simple liver cysts or polycystic disease by asking your family history and reading your imaging reports! For simple cysts less than 50 mm in diameter, most of them will just let you have regular checkups, for us with diameters larger than 50 mm, or if we have internal bleeding or infection, they will show no mercy and use a puncture needle through the skin and liver into our middle, under the guidance of ultrasound, etc., to draw out the water and treat it with anhydrous alcohol, and we will never survive! As to whether we need a major open surgery to get rid of us, or a liver and kidney transplant, you should follow the advice of your human doctors!
