Honeysuckle is not bitter in nature, honeysuckle is sweet in taste, cold in nature, belonging to the lung, stomach and heart meridian, it can be used for carbuncle (it is a kind of poisonous sores, acute suppurative disease occurring on the surface of the body, limbs, and internal organs) furuncle, laryngeal paralysis (red, swollen and painful pharynx or dryness, a foreign body sensation, or pharyngeal itching discomfort and difficulty in swallowing) and so on.
Honeysuckle has the efficacy of clearing heat and removing toxins, evacuating wind-heat, and can be used for wind-heat colds and flu, fever of warm diseases, treating heat into the blood (in the four periods of warm diseases, Wei Qi and Ying Blood, it belongs to the most in-depth stage or location of the disease), maculopapular rashes and epistaxis (spitting up blood and bleeding from the nose), and high fever and fainting, and is often used in combination with Sheng Dihuang, Lian Qiao, and so on.
Honeysuckle is used for treating warm diseases with heat in the qi portion, irritable thirst and strong heat, and can be used with Zhimu and Gypsum; this medicine can also be used for throat paralysis, carbuncle and furuncle, tannin (an acute infectious disease in which the skin can be seen to be reddened as if it has been coated with pigment), and febrile blood dysentery.
It is contraindicated for those with cold spleen and stomach and Qi deficiency with sores and pus clearing. It is not recommended to take the medicine by yourself, if you are not feeling well, it is recommended to go to the hospital.
