High free T3 and T4 and low thyrotropin may be caused by hyperthyroidism, which can be treated by general treatment, medication, iodine 131 treatment and surgery.
The three items of thyroid function generally include thyrotropin TSH, free thyroid hormone FT4, free triiodothyronine FT3. If TSH is significantly lower and FT4 and FT3 are significantly higher, and at the same time, the patient has symptoms of excessive sweating, irritability, and emaciation, it is suggestive of the presence of hyperthyroidism.
1. General treatment: pay attention to rest in daily life, quit smoking and limit alcohol; avoid iodine diet, avoid eating iodine-rich foods, such as kelp, seaweed, dried scallops, shrimp and so on.
2. Drug treatment: usually hyperthyroidism, tachycardia and other discomforts may occur, if necessary, you can choose beta-blockers, such as propranolol to treat; follow the doctor’s instructions to take anti-thyroid medication, such as methimazole and so on.
3. Iodine 131: It is mainly applied to people with grade 2 or above enlargement of the thyroid gland and those who are allergic to antithyroid drugs, and reduces the synthesis of thyroxine by destroying the thyroid tissue. Hypothyroidism may occur after surgery, and oral levothyroxine sodium is needed for symptomatic treatment.
4. Surgical treatment: for moderate or severe hyperthyroidism, or long-term drug treatment is ineffective, relapse after stopping the drug, as well as thyroid enlargement caused by respiratory difficulties, you can follow the doctor’s instructions to perform lateral thyroidectomy, total thyroidectomy treatment.
When abnormal thyroid function is detected, it is recommended to go to the hospital for consultation and early standardized treatment.
