What to do if you bleed during sex after menopause

Postmenopausal sexual bleeding may be caused by atrophic vaginitis, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer and other diseases, which need to be treated with medication, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other ways according to the cause.
1. Atrophic vaginitis: patients should follow the doctor’s instruction to use estrogen drugs such as estriol ointment and antibiotic drugs such as metronidazole and norfloxacin.
2. Cervical cancer: Generally, early stage patients can consider cervical conization, modified hysterectomy and other surgical treatments; for advanced stage patients, in addition to surgery, they need to use chemotherapeutic drugs such as cisplatin, paclitaxel, fluorouracil and other chemotherapeutic drugs according to doctor’s instruction, and they can also consider radiotherapy.
3. Vaginal cancer: patients need to cooperate with doctors to take surgical treatments such as partial vaginal resection, upper vaginal resection, etc., and at the same time need to take radiotherapy and chemotherapy for auxiliary treatment.
It is recommended that postmenopausal patients with sexual bleeding should go to the hospital and cooperate with doctors to actively treat the primary disease.
