How to deal with baby ear wax

Earwax is a normal secretion from the human ear, and its unique shape and smell protect the ear from small bugs or impurities. Earwax needs to be cleaned when there is too much of it, and earwax produced by babies and young children should be cleaned properly. When the earwax is already visible to the naked eye and is dry and hard, roll up a moistened gauze and reach into the ear to pull it out; if the earwax is soft, use a cotton swab with fragrance oil to moisten the outer ear canal and soften the earwax before slowly pulling it out. For earwax that is deeper in the ear canal, do not dig it out. The skin of the ear canal is extremely tender and can be easily punctured, leading to diseases such as otitis media. Also, earwax deep in the ear will usually move out slowly on its own and will not affect your child. If your baby is obviously feeling discomfort in the ear, or if too much earwax is blocking the ear canal, you need to go to the hospital and ask a professional doctor to look at your toddler’s ear and use a professional earwax cleaning apparatus to clean it. In addition, it is best to clean the earwax of babies and toddlers while they are sleeping to avoid ear damage due to discomfort or uncomfortable twisting of the baby’s body. Parents can clean the earwax that is on the outside of the ear canal, and do not use cotton swabs to dig deeper; children with too much earwax should go to the hospital.
