Can I have a baby at 35 weeks of pregnancy?

At 35 weeks of gestation, a pregnant woman is in the late stages of pregnancy. The fetus is gradually developing and maturing in late pregnancy, but it is still not recommended to end the pregnancy immediately. The possibility of going into -term labor exists at any time after a pregnant woman enters the late stages of pregnancy. No fetus is full-term until 37 weeks, so spontaneous labor before 37 weeks is rare under normal circumstances. However, if any abnormalities occur during the pregnancy, the pregnancy must be terminated before the full term. If at 35 weeks of gestation the pregnancy has to be terminated due to special circumstances, the termination can be chosen according to the different etiologies. It is recommended that most pregnant women at 35 weeks of gestation choose to terminate their pregnancy by cesarean section. This is because the latest organ to develop in a fetus that is not yet full term is the lungs. If the fetal lungs are well developed, the survival rate of the fetus is high. Cesarean delivery is faster and avoids the possibility of fetal accidents due to prolonged time in the maternal birth canal. Patients are also advised to choose a hospital with neonatal resuscitation conditions to terminate their pregnancy. The necessary resuscitation measures are given first after delivery of the fetus to increase the chances of existence of the newborn. Therefore, termination of pregnancy at 35 weeks of gestation is not recommended under normal circumstances, and if termination is necessary, then it is recommended to consult a hospital with neonatal resuscitation conditions to ensure the safety of the newborn.
