How to regulate people who love to sulk

People who love to sulk can be toned up by using medicines that detoxify the liver and regulate qi (regulating the stagnation of liver qi) or by stimulating acupoints that detoxify liver qi. According to Chinese medicine, the liver is the main regulator (the liver has the function of regulating qi throughout the body). People who love to sulk are usually prone to liver qi stagnation (poor qi and blood transportation in the liver and emotional depression), which leads to symptoms such as emotional depression, chest and ribs, and swelling and pain in the two breasts. Therefore, people who love to sulk especially need to regulate liver qi and unblock qi. People who love to sulk can use liver-qi dispersing medicines such as Chai Hu, Rose Hips and Xiang Fu, or press or pinpoint liver-qi dispersing acupoints such as Taichong to regulate the body. However, the medicinal properties of medicines for dispersing liver qi, such as Chai Hu, are ascending and dispersing, and should be used with caution in people with yin deficiency (deficiency of yin essence in the body, resulting in hyperactivity of deficiency fire) or internal movement of liver wind (people with symptoms such as vertigo, tremor, convulsions, etc.). Adverse effects are not known. Patients who are not feeling well are advised to consult a doctor in a timely manner and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
