Is a subchorionic hematoma an abortion?

Subchorionic hematoma does not necessarily mean fetal arrest, but also according to the size of the hematoma and review after treatment. Subchorionic hematoma is formed when the chorionic plate separates from the underlying meconium during pregnancy and causes bleeding. When ultrasound suggests that there is a subchorionic hematoma, it does not necessarily mean that the fetus should be terminated, but should be combined with the results of laboratory tests such as blood HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), progesterone, estradiol, anticardiolipin antibody to find out the cause, and the patient should follow doctor’s orders to give active treatment to preserve the fetus. The formation of subchorionic hematoma is related to uterine anatomical abnormalities, infection, endocrine and autoimmune factors, and the prognosis depends on the area of the hematoma, the bleeding gestational week and the location of the bleeding, when the ultrasound suggests that the area of the hematoma is not large, and the fetal heartbeat is good, and the hematoma is located in the fundus of the uterus, the general prognosis is good.
