Swollen lymph nodes are a very common clinical symptom that may be caused by lymphadenitis. If swollen lymph nodes appear, hot compresses should not be applied in the early stage. Patients with swollen lymph nodes may aggravate the symptoms of swollen lymph nodes if hot compresses are applied in the early stage, and painful lymph nodes can appear. Patients with swollen lymph nodes can apply cold compresses with ice packs in the early stage. Cold compresses with ice packs can reduce the inflammatory exudation and relieve the symptoms of swollen and painful lymph nodes. The most common cause of swollen lymph nodes is acute lymphadenitis, which is usually caused by bacterial infections, such as skin and soft tissue infections, and other causes can lead to lymph node infection and lymphadenitis, resulting in inflammatory manifestations of redness, swelling, heat and pain. In this case, antibiotics need to be applied for anti-infection treatment, and if the pain is more pronounced, oral anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs can be taken to relieve the pain symptoms.
