The location of Spleen Yu point is below the spinous process of the 11th thoracic vertebra, 1.5 inches away from the posterior midline. Spleen Yu is an acupoint on the foot solar bladder meridian and is also the dorsal acupoint of the spleen. It is located on the back, 1.5 inches off the posterior midline, below the spinous process of the 11th thoracic vertebra. When locating the point, one can first look for the inferior angle of the shoulder blades. The two subscapularis corners are horizontal to the spinous process of the 7th thoracic vertebra, then count down 4 vertebrae. And 1.5 inches aside from the posterior midline you need to find the medial border of the scapula first. The medial edge of the scapula is 3 inches to the spine and 1.5 inches to the center line. From this you can locate the Spleen Yu point. The Spleen Yu point can be used to treat distention, vomiting, diarrhea, and other disorders of the spleen, stomach, and intestines, as well as to treat back pain. However, it is important to note that needling should be done at an angle of 45°. Acupuncture should be performed by a specialized physician.
