What to do if your baby is developmentally delayed

If a child has a growth retardation, it is important to assess and actively seek out the cause and provide targeted treatment. First, it is important to evaluate the area and severity of the delay, for example, is it motor development? Is it language development? Is it simply physical development? And so on. Parents may only be able to make a preliminary assessment of their child’s developmental delay, but a definitive assessment needs to be sought from a medical professional who will have screening scales, diagnostic scales, etc., to give a more accurate assessment of the child. In addition, it is very important to look for the cause. Parents should carefully recall and sort out all the possible influencing factors, what they can do and what they can’t do, is it aggravated? Is it worsening or decreasing? A spike? Is it getting heavier? When the doctor asks, give the correct answer to help him/her find the cause of the problem. Finally, when the cause of the developmental delay is clearly identified and found, early intervention must be taken, because once the best time for early intervention is missed, it may be difficult to return to normal or to achieve effective catch-up. In conclusion, regardless of the cause of any type of growth retardation, it is important to evaluate, find the cause and treat it early to avoid leaving different degrees of harm and regret.
