Can Omicron get recurrent infections?

Based on the available data, it is possible to develop recurrent infections with omicron. Before the emergence of new variants of omicron, the risk of reinfection is low in the short term (e.g., within a few months after initial infection). The risk of infection 6-9 months after a history of previous infection is reduced by at least 80-85%. Several other studies have estimated the risk of reinfection in this time frame to be <1%. However, the risk of re-infection with the omicron variant is higher in people previously infected with other variants; the risk of re-infection with the omicron variant after previous infection with the omicron variant is unknown but probably low. Omicron is highly transmissible, so prevention of the disease is important. One should be actively vaccinated against the new coronavirus and avoid going to crowded places, and once diagnosed, one should go to a specialized hospital for isolation and treatment.
