The eyes are the window to the soul, and a beautiful pair of eyes can bring unparalleled confidence and beauty to one’s spirit and life. The Oriental eye shape is characterized by single eyelids, small lid fissures, bloated upper lids with subcutaneous fat, wide distance between the eyes, and some people with obvious inner canthus. As the standard of living improves, more and more people with single eyelids are pursuing three-dimensional double eyelids, and thus double eyelid surgery has become the most common cosmetic surgery in beauty clinics. There are two types of double eyelid surgery that are most widely used: the incision method and the buried line method, both of which have corresponding indications and their respective advantages and disadvantages. In general, the incision method is suitable for all patients, especially for those with bloated upper eyelids (commonly known as “swollen eyeballs”), inverted eyelashes, and older patients with loose upper eyelid skin. The incision method provides a stable and long-lasting double eyelid with a strong sense of dimensionality; it also corrects ingrown eyelashes and increases the eyelashes’ aura; it removes fat from the upper lid to make the upper lid less bloated and more beautiful; and it removes part of the skin and lifts the corners of the eyes to rejuvenate the upper lid skin. Some people are concerned that the incision method will leave a visible scar. There is no need to worry about this. Although there will be early traces of the incision, they are usually less noticeable after six months, and the incision can only be seen when the eyes are closed. The stitches are usually removed in 4 days, leaving no trace of stitches. In addition, many years of clinical experience has found that even for people with scarring, it is not easy for hyperplastic scarring to occur in certain special areas, such as the upper and lower eyelids, eyebrows and other parts, so open double eyelid surgery can be used for people with scarring (except for eye opening surgery). 2.Buried eyelid surgery The scope of application of buried eyelid surgery is relatively narrow, and the following conditions are generally required: thin eyelids, long and narrow eye fissures, and young patients with no obvious laxity of the eyelids. However, the upper eyelid crease can easily become shallow and narrow after surgery, and a small number of people may have their eyelids disappear, requiring another surgery to repair them. The width of the eyelid is usually between 5.5mm and 7.5mm for Chinese people, and the buried line method can be made wider (because the upper eyelid crease tends to become shallower and narrower after surgery), but too narrow can easily disappear; too wide, which is commonly known as “European eyes”, is not very suitable for Oriental people, because the brow bone is generally lower in yellow people, and the distance between the brow and the lid is shorter. This is because yellow people generally have lower brow bones and a shorter distance between the eyebrow and the lid fissure, making “European eyes” generally look fake. The blind pursuit of “European eyes” will not achieve cosmetic results and will also make it difficult to repair later. The recovery time after double eyelid surgery varies from person to person, but generally about 2 weeks is a good recovery.
