How many days after intercourse can you test for pregnancy?

There are various methods to detect early pregnancy. Blood HCG can be measured around 8-10 days after intercourse, early pregnancy test can be performed around 12-14 days after intercourse to test urine pregnancy, while ultrasound test may take around 20 days after intercourse. Around 7 days after ovulation, the fertilized egg is laid and begins to secrete human chorionic gonadotropin. Depending on the method used to detect early pregnancy, the time to test positive after intercourse varies. Therefore, for most women, a blood test for human chorionic gonadotropin after about 8-10 days of intercourse can indicate pregnancy, which is more sensitive and can detect pregnancy at an earlier stage. During early pregnancy, the chorionic gonadotropin level increases rapidly, doubling every 48 hours. Therefore, about 12-14 days after intercourse, an early pregnancy test can be used to detect pregnancy. In addition, an ultrasound examination of the uterine adnexa can be performed about 20 days after intercourse to detect intrauterine gestational sacs and exclude ectopic pregnancy. At present, pregnancy tests are more commonly used. For women who are newly pregnant, it is recommended to use the morning urine for testing because the HCG level is higher in the morning urine.
