Can Xiangsha Liujun Pills be taken together with Gui Spleen Pills?

It is not recommended to take Xiangsha Liujunwan with Gui Spleen Pills, as they have more of the same medication and both have the effect of benefiting qi and strengthening the spleen, duplication of the medication may carry the risk of overdose.
Xiangsha Liujun Pills is composed of wood sorrel, atractylodes, licorice, hemixia, codonopsis, radix et rhizoma, poria, tangerine peel, ginger and jujube. The effects are to benefit Qi, strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach. It can be used for dyspepsia due to spleen deficiency and qi stagnation, decreased diet, epigastric distension (bloating and pain in the stomach and abdomen), belching (burping), and loose stools. The adverse effects of this product are not clear, and it is contraindicated in pregnant women.
Gui Spleen Pill is composed of Poria, Atractylodes macrocephala, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, Radix jujube officinalis, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Astragali, Radix et Rhizoma Pinelliae, Radix jujube officinalis, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Radix et Rhizoma Longan, Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori. It is effective in benefiting qi, strengthening the spleen, nourishing blood and tranquilizing the mind. It can be used for deficiency of heart and spleen, palpitation, insomnia and forgetfulness, shortness of breath, dizziness, tiredness of limbs and loss of appetite. Adverse reactions of skin rash and indigestion may occur, and contraindications are not clear.
Xiangsha Liujun Pill and Gui Spleen Pill both contain Muxiang, Poria, Codonopsis, Licorice, Jujubae and Atractylodes Macrocephalae, taking them together will lead to overdose of the same drug and may cause adverse effects on the body, therefore, it is not recommended to take them together.
