What is the enlarged size of the liver

An enlarged liver means that the liver has a normal shape and can be palpated during physical examination. It should be noted, however, that there are some normal people who can palpate the liver below the rib cage or below the glabella, but this is not necessarily an enlarged liver and is mainly seen in people who are thin and weak, when the liver is soft and there are no nodules or pressure pains. There are many clinical causes of liver enlargement due to disease, including infection, bruising, cholestasis, poisoning, metabolic abnormalities, tumors, immune damage, hematologic lesions or connective tissue diseases, etc. Signs and symptoms of liver enlargement due to different causes may vary, and relevant tests may also help to determine the disease. In China, the common causes of liver enlargement are mainly viral hepatitis, liver tumors, cirrhosis, etc. Therefore, when liver enlargement occurs clinically, these diseases should be excluded first.
