What causes older people to be unable to speak

The common clinical causes of elderly people’s inability to speak include cerebrovascular disease, epileptic seizure, emotional agitation and so on.
1. Cerebrovascular disease: this condition is mostly seen in cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, etc., in which the patient’s brain tissue is damaged, and the clinical manifestations are unfavorable speech, limb dysfunction, impaired consciousness, and sensory abnormalities.
2. Epileptic seizure: it is a chronic disease with sudden abnormal discharge of neurons in the brain, leading to transient brain dysfunction, with clinical manifestations of convulsions of limbs, rolling of eyes, foaming at the mouth, behavioral disorders, consciousness disorders and so on, and at this time, the sick old people are unable to speak and express themselves.
3. Emotional excitement: some elderly people may experience muscle spasm in the throat area and spasm of the vocal cord muscles under emotional excitement, which is clinically manifested as difficulty in speaking and inability to pronounce words.
