Galangal is the dried rhizome of Galangal, family Zingiberaceae. It is pungent in flavor and hot in nature. Attributed to the spleen, stomach meridian. It can warm the stomach and stop vomiting, dispel cold and relieve pain. It is used for cold pain in the stomach and abdomen, cold stomach and vomiting, belching (burping) and acid swallowing (swallowing acid in the stomach that goes up to the mouth and throat).
