Foreign body sensation in the throat caused by cervical spondylosis is generally due to cervical degenerative changes, cervical disc herniation, etc. It is usually treated by physical therapy such as massage and traction, medication such as celecoxib and diclofenac sodium, and surgical treatment.
1. Degenerative changes of the cervical spine: under normal physiological curvature, the cervical spine is bent and convex to the front when viewed from the side, and excessive forward flexion and backward convexity occurs due to long-term bad posture or strain injury. Excessive forward flexion can compress the esophagus, resulting in discomfort in swallowing and foreign body sensation in the throat. If there is no symptom, it can be left untreated for the time being; if it compresses the nerves and spinal cord, medicines such as methylcobalamin and vitamins can be used as prescribed by the doctor.
2. Cervical disc herniation: it can compress the nerves, spinal cord and blood vessels, etc. The compression of nerves can cause sympathetic excitation, which will lead to drooping of one side of the eyelid, less sweating, and foreign body sensation in the throat. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as celecoxib and steroid hormones such as glucocorticoids can be chosen in accordance with the doctor’s instructions to play the role of analgesia and anti-inflammatory.
All of the above drugs should be taken under the guidance of a doctor and should not be used on their own. Once cervical spondylosis causes foreign body sensation in the throat, it is recommended to consult a doctor immediately to clarify the cause of the disease and carry out targeted treatment.
