Color blindness and color weakness are both common diseases in ophthalmology. Wearing eyeglasses can improve the patient’s ability to distinguish colors, but it can’t cure color blindness and color weakness fundamentally. Human eyes can sense colors mainly because the retina is distributed with photoreceptor cells that can sense red light, blue light and green light respectively. When the development of photoreceptor cells that can sense a certain color or multiple colors is defective due to genetic abnormality, color blindness and color weakness will be formed, and there is no method to repair the genetic defects so that the photoreceptor cells of the retina will be restored to normal. When wearing eyeglasses, by placing lenses that can filter different wavelengths in front of the left and right eyes respectively, different colored objects will appear differently in the left and right eyes, and the patient can judge the real color of the objects according to the color difference between the two eyes.
