What is the current state of the nutrition discipline?

Clinical nutritional support has been studied and implemented for more than 40 years. As early as the 1960s and 1970s, Zeng Xianjiu, Jiang Zhongming, Lai Jieshou, Wu Zhaoguang and other predecessors deeply realized the importance of nutritional support in comprehensive treatment. Despite the scarcity of drugs and equipment at that time, they still led us to carry out this work. After decades of efforts, the concept of clinical nutritional support has not only been accepted by the medical profession, but also become one of the most important measures for the treatment of all kinds of critically ill patients, saving the lives of countless patients. Since the reform and opening up, a considerable number of high-quality products and equipments have been introduced and have gradually taken root and blossomed in China, which in turn has created better conditions for us to carry out clinical nutritional support. However, from the current situation, other disciplines still appear to have insufficient knowledge of nutritional metabolism, and the phenomenon of irregularities in nutritional support is relatively common. Sometimes within the same unit, the degree of awareness of nutritional support varies greatly among different disciplines and levels of medical staff. Looking at the above factors, we feel that timely summarization and communication is of great significance in promoting this technology. In fact, clinical nutritional support therapy has been relatively perfect. The correct implementation of nutritional support can play a good effect, can promote the early recovery of patients, can also minimize the complication rate. On the contrary, inappropriate nutritional support is not only ineffective, but also has many complications. The difference is obvious. In order to narrow this gap, we are deeply impressed by the importance of communication with clinical staff.
