Astragalus, maitake and ginseng in water have the effect of benefiting qi and nourishing yin, but the active ingredients in the water are limited and generally do not achieve the therapeutic effect. 1. Astragalus: has the effect of tonifying the middle and benefiting the qi (treating qi deficiency by replenishing the spleen) and fixing the surface, and can be used to treat qi deficiency, which can be seen in symptoms such as fatigue (mental exhaustion, physical weakness), lack of energy and laziness (lack of strength, not wanting to talk), dullness (lack of appetite, reduced food intake), and loose stools (thin and unshapely feces), and so on. 2. Ophiopogon: it has the effect of nourishing Yin, moistening the lungs and generating fluids, and can be used for the treatment of dry lungs and dry coughs, thirst due to injury of fluids, five heart-quietness and heat (heat in the hearts of the hands and feet, and self-consciousness of the heart and chest), and constipation due to dryness of the intestines and constipation. 3. Radix Codonopsis pilosulae: with the effects of benefiting qi, strengthening the spleen, promoting the production of body fluid and moistening the lung, it can be used for treating deficiency of lung, spleen, qi and yin, such as fatigue, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, which is aggravated by the slightest movement), night sweating (sweating abnormally after falling asleep, but sweating stops after waking up), five heartburns and heat (heartburn, heat in the chest, palms, hands and feet), and dullness with little food. It is not suitable to be used with veratrum. Adverse effects of Astragalus, Maitong, and Codonopsis have not been clarified, and are contraindicated in allergy.
