Drinking alcohol can aggravate hemorrhoids. Because of the alcohol content in wine, alcohol can lead to dilatation of the arterial vessels under the anorectal mucosa, which in turn leads to increased anal swelling and may also induce blood in the stool. The wine itself is a spicy food, so too much of it can easily lead to internal dampness and heat, which can stagnate in the anorectal mucosa, leading to increased hemorrhoids and even inflammatory edema or hemorrhoid prolapse. The actual hemorrhoids are a lot more than just the hemorrhoids.
