IUDs do not cause fibroids. Uterine fibroids are “estrogen-dependent” and may get bigger as we age, and may even cause heavy periods, anemia, changes in bowel movements, abdominal pain, and other symptoms. They can shrink or disappear after menopause. There are some foods and drugs that are not suitable for patients with fibroids, such as: clams, birth control pills, estrogenic drugs, etc. Mifepristone and other drugs can have a certain effect on fibroids, but generally cannot be completely “eaten away” by drugs, sometimes the drugs only play a temporary suppression or reduce the size of fibroids before surgery, in order to facilitate the purpose of surgical treatment. The Chinese medicine and acupuncture, massage, etc. are completely ineffective, so don’t be fooled and waste your time and money. Patients with larger fibroids, or those with combined anemia, menstrual disorders, bladder and rectal compression symptoms need surgical treatment. Patients with fertility requirements choose surgery or conservative treatment according to the specific situation, or regular follow-up observation.
