Composition and efficacy of Wang Qingren’s Blood Stasis Expelling Tang

Wang Qingren Yuyu Tang (王清任逐瘀汤) is composed of peach kernel and safflower, or red peony and angelica as the basis for additions and subtractions. The efficacy is as follows: Activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, promoting qi circulation and relieving pain (relieving pain by regulating the body’s qi mechanism) with Hematopoietic and Blood-Relieving Tang; promoting blood circulation and opening up the orifices with Tongkou and Blood-Relieving Tang; promoting blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis under the diaphragm, promoting qi circulation and relieving pain with Shaoxiao and Blood-Relieving Tang; warming the menstruation and relieving pain with Shaoyang and Blood-Relieving Tang; activating blood circulation and promoting qi circulation to eliminate blood stasis and promote circulation of qi channels to relieve pain with palsy.
1. Hematophagus and Blood Stasis Relieving Tang: peach kernel, safflower, angelica sinensis, radix et rhizoma, Rhizoma ligustici chuanxiong, radix et rhizoma peony, hyssop, platycodon grandiflorus, Chai Hu, Citrus aurantium dulcis, licorice. It is used to treat pain in the chest due to stasis.
2. Tongxiao and Blood Promoting Tang: red peony, chuanxiong, peach kernel, safflower, musk, old onion, ginger, red date, yellow wine. It is used to treat headache caused by Blood stasis.
3. Subphrenic Blood Stasis Expelling Tang: Wu Ling Yi, Angelica sinensis, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Peach kernel, Dampi, Red peony, Yuan Hu, Licorice, Safflower, Aromatic herbs, Wu Yao, Hovenia Citri Reticulatae. It is used in treating abdominal pain and rib pain caused by stasis under the diaphragm.
It is used in treating the syndrome of cold and blood stasis in the lesser abdomen.
For paralytic pain with blood stasis blocking the meridians.
